Club Shows & Events

Annual Shows

A long-standing tradition of the South Shore Model Railway Club & Museum is our annual Scout/Family Night event, held on a Friday evening in the beginning of January. The club will be open from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. While this event is identified as "Scout/Family," it is open to everyone.

Our Spring Show & Open House weekend occurs in early March. The Club, with dealer tables, visiting layouts, and the White Elephant Table will be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Summer Open House is held the first Saturday in August. This one-day event is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is an opportunity to see progress on the railroad with operating trains in a more relaxing atmosphere in air-conditioned luxury. Without sales acivities.

Our Fall Show & Open House weekend occurs in late October. As with our Spring show, the hours are Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This two-day event also includes dealer tables, visiting layouts, and a White Elephant Table. It's a nice way to begin the holidays.

In 2023 we initiated a “Christmas Model Railroad Open House”, which took place on a Sunday in early December. We have determined that this is an excellent time of the year for “Trains and Santa”, so click on the box at the top of the page for details of this year’s Open House.

In 2026 we’re experimenting with an “End of School Open House”, to celebrate the beginning of school vacation. Patterned after the “Christmas Model Railroad Open House”, this will be a free event, in a relaxed atmosphere and held on a Sunday afternoon in June, from 2-5 p.m.
